Class Descriptions 


Introduction to Ballroom Dance:
Open to Everyone. This is the absolute best place to start! Students will be introduced to the basic fundamentals of partnership dancing including leading/following skills, timing and floor craft. Students will also have an opportunity to try out the Foxtrot, Waltz and East Coast Swing.


Level One Classes: Open to Everyone. No previous experience required, but an Introduction to Ballroom Dance class is highly recommended as a pre-requisite.  We will begin with the basics of each dance and incorporate proper technique.  This will build a strong foundation before moving on to higher levels and increased variety.


Level Two Classes:
Students must have taken the Introduction to Ballroom Dance or Level One class to take a Level 2 Foxtrot or Waltz class.  A previous Level One class is required for all other dancers.  While continuing to incorporate proper technique, students will increase their pattern variety in the Level 2 Class.
 
Level Three Classes: Students must have taken the appropriage Level One and Level 2 Classes before enrolling in a Level Three class.  While continuing to polish the basic techniques of the dance, students should complete Level 3 with a solid repertoire, good partnership skills and the ability to dance comfortably.

Advanced Level Classes: Levels 1-3 are required before registering for an Advanced class.

Continuity Styling: Instructor Approval Only!  Levels 1-3 and the Advanced Level in both Foxtrot AND Waltz are absolutely required before taking this class.


SPECIALTY CLASSES


Latin Motion - Quite simply, this is a 4-week class about moving your hips!  It may not be the most fun class, but your Latin dances....and your hips, will thank you!!  You might even feel a little bit of pain for a few days!!  This is great exercise, and really does wonders for the appearance of your Rumba, Cha Cha, Salsa, etc.

Advanced Movement - This class is all about incorporating your whole body into each dance, instead of just your feet.  Through a series of movements strung together into simple routines, you will learn to use your whole body to express the characteristics of each dance.  Let go of inhibitions and feel the music!

Dance Fit - An energetic workout class that combines movements from all of the dances together into fast-paced mini-routines set to music. Fun AND invigorating!

Continuity Styling - An advanced styling that is used for Foxtrot and Waltz which creates beautiful, flowing movements around the floor.  Strong balance and good control are essential for being able to add this style to your dancing.  This is what you see professionals and advanced dancers doing!  If you watch "Dancing With the Stars" or other dance programs and don't recognize a Waltz or Foxtrot as what you know them to be......it is because they are using Continuity Styling. 

To register for this class, dancers MUST have completed Levels 1-3 and the Advanced Level in Foxtrot AND Waltz.  NO EXCEPTIONS!  Instructor approval in needed for acceptance into this class.  The next Continuity Styling class will begin in December.  Start working on your pre-requisites now!
